The ancient sciences of Yoga and Ayurveda understand the importance of removing these toxins to maintain balance and to reduce the likelihood of diseases developing.
Whilst the body has been designed to cleanse itself, the ancient Yogis developed practices to facilitate and optimise this process.
This 5 week cleanse gives you a taste of some of these practices
Recorded as a Spring Cleanse during the lockdowns of 2021, this is a cleansing program that can be practised at any time of year. On the physical level, we focus on massaging, activating and strengthening the organs of elimination… the liver, kidneys, intestines and lymphatics. But as always with a Satyananda Yoga Sadhana, we are working with practices whose benefits extend beyond the physical realm and so aim to cleanse at all levels of our being. It is said that the Vajrasattwa Mantra, our mantra practice for this Sadhana, also cleanses our Karma!
As with most of our monthly programs, the intensity of the practices increases as the month unfolds… creating opportunities to explore how the practices change for us as they become more familiar and our bodies develop greater strength, flexibility and endurance.
We finish the month with a restorative week … helping us to remember the importance of rest and relaxation … particularly in the context of digestion. The benefits of Yoga practice accumulate exponentially ie. practice done once a week is good…practice done twice a week is more than twice as good. Therefore, I recommend you practice each week’s sadhana as often as you can to maximise the benefits!
